Officers stated they were alerted by a man who found a automobile in Hanau smeared with red-colored fluid

Around fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Police state they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.

The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Officers then located multiple other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement report preliminary tests suggest the fluid was probably blood from a person.

"Currently there is no indication as to its source; authorities are currently not informed of any harm in connection with the incident," they commented.

Local authorities stated they were working "to resolve the case" and have requested to the community for information.

An important political figure said the vandalism made him without words and required to be resolved promptly.

"This incident affects the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on social media, mentioning the death of nine victims by a shooter focusing on residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
